There are seven to eight miles of reef wall paralleling the Western Shore of Grand Turk, all less than one-quarter mile from the shore and beginning at an average depth of 35 feet. There are at least 20 buoy-marked sites along the wall (which is a protected national marine park), with numerous other unmarked sites.
Grand Turk offers unsurpassed wall diving. The reef-wall, with tunnels, archways and chimneys, plunges from 30 to 7,000 feet. Divers can weave between sculptured coral buttresses separated by sand chutes teeming with parrotfish, red hind, trumpet fish and garden eels. Prolific growths of black coral at shallow depths can be found, along with an abundance of marine life in these warm Atlantic Ocean waters.
The visibility can exceed 30m (100 ft.). You don't have to go deep to encounter impressive marine life—active reef zones begin here at depths of just 9m (30 ft.), meaning you'll enjoy productive dives in better light and using better air production. The proximity of great diving to the docks also means you don't have to spend hours getting to and from your dives—after a mid-day dive you can be back on land in plenty of time for happy hour.
