The reef, which forms the perimeter of the Turks and Caicos archipelago on the west, north and east sides, extends 200 miles and descends to a depth of 7,000 feet into the darkness of the Columbus Passage. With 100 to 200 feet of visibility and warm year-round temperatures, the diving conditions offshore of Grand Turk are extraordinary.

Most of the dive sites are on the west side of the island, where, only a quarter mile from shore, the reef juts to within 30 or 40 feet of the surface. The reef is the underwater haven for a profusion of fish, shellfish, plants, and other marine life, including 60 species of coral, making it one of the most popular dive destinations in the world.

Perfect for divers and non-divers alike, Gibbs Cay is located one mile east of Grand Turk, on the Atlantic side of the island. This uninhabited island, thought to be the location of a French gun emplacement during the 1780s, is renowned for its beautiful white-sand beaches and its welcoming squadron of friendly stingrays that swim with visitors in the island's shallow waters.
